A Countryside Daydream: Michael Kors

“We all dream of getting out and getting away and feeling secure, cozy and grounded—that’s what this show is all about”, wrote Michael Kors about his country fantasy, his Fall 2020 collection, that we can summarize as a graceful picnic day under the Autumn sun, among the orange-leafed trees.

With a guitar and a Orville Peck’s deep voice to liven up the barn-like venue, inside the American Stock Exchange building, the american fashion house displayed a series of garments in browns, blacks and whites, with just the right amount of red, orange and yellow splashed here and there, making clear which season this delivery belongs to.

On the wooden walkway, the models wore elegant but cozy knitted scarves with fringed (and also knitted) oversized sweaters, long capes and checkered and cowhide printed coats and shirts, wool ponchos and high suede boots, that transmitted the need to escape into nature, to a cottage in the countryside. To home, sweet home.

Then came the sparkling dark fabrics in gowns covering turtlenecks, under an black oversized coat and dancing in a dress with halter neckline, a glamorous and stylized touch that instead of going against what’s established in this collection, complements it.

Using similar models, dressed with the same outfits, with the same hairstyle and even look, men and women, Michael Kors also declares what fashion has been saying in recent years: that clothes are not only for one gender, not in the cities, not in nature. Not even inside a countryside daydream.
